![]() | Throughout World War II, women, farm workers and people employed in essential war production capacities were exempt from the draft. The Armed Forces were also reluctant to draft older men, fathers or men under 19 years of age. When drafted, the services rarely sent them into combat areas. However, by 1944, the need for additional recruits overcame their reluctance to accept older men and fathers, especially in the case of trained personnel. |
