  • March 20    Celtic Concert / Ceilidh featuring the U. S. Air Force's Heritage Aire Celtic Ensemble

    7:00 pm to 10:00 pm - Free! Bring your own seating. Food and drink will be available for sale.

  • March 25    Chili Cookoff and Beer Tasting at the Sumter County Museum
    Event time: 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm

    Includes live entertainment by the 80s Tribute Band The Breakfast Club. This event is sponsored by the Young Professionals of Sumter and H & S Wholesalers, Inc. Ticket cost is $30.00.

  • March 27    Carolina Backcountry Springtime
    Event time: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

    Spring into 1800! Join the museum staff as we recreate what it was like to live in Sumter during the spring. There will be open hearth cooking and blacksmithing demonstrations. This event is free and open to the public.

  • April 20    Shrimp Feast
    Event time: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

    Shrimp, Shrimp, and More Shrimp!!!Cost is $30 per person. Please contact the Museum at 803-775-0908 for reservations.

  • October 9    Carolina Backcountry Harvest,
    Event time: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

    The Backcountry Harvest takes you back to the year 1800 when Sumter was first founded. Join us to find out how people lived their daily lives and what kind of food they were eating. This event is free and open to the public.

  • November 18    Oyster Roast
    Event time: 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

    All-you-can-eat Curt Edens’ Famous Chili, Brown’s Barbeque, Drunkin’ Collards, Libations and steamed Oysters. Cost is TBD per person and space is limited, museum members have first preference. Advanced Tickets Only!!! Please contact the Museum at 803-775-0908 for reservations.

  • December 11    Carolina Backcountry Christmas,
    Event time: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

    It is a nice change of pace to see what the Holidays were like in the Backcountry of South Carolina in 1800. Join us for a real old fashioned Christmas. There will be hot apple cider, cookies, and roasted chestnuts. The event is free and open to the public.
