A life-sized replica of the Confederate submarine H. L. Hunley will be at the museum for two days. The Hunley was the first submarine in history to sink an enemy ship. After successfully attacking the USS Housatonic, the Hunley disappeared into the waters of Charleston Harbor. After years of searching, the submarine was discovered and, in 2000, recovered intact from the ocean floor. Today, the Hunley is on display in Charleston. Mr. John Dangerfield, an original member of the restoration team who worked on the submarine, created this replica. The Summerville based SCV H. L.
